FAQ

Why do you like to be a therapist? What kind of therapist are you?

I always say that I am fortunate that my passion is my work! I enjoy providing compassion and listening to every client’s life experience. Each client brings a challenge that requires unique solutions, and it is amazing to see our work together and how that transpires session by session. Being able to see my clients grow is such a gift.

My field is fascinating because it is always modernizing and allows me to continue to learn new techniques for my clients. I am an avid learner, always involved in studying the newest techniques. My sessions typically use several modalities in order to help you where you are stuck. I blend traditional talk therapy with Brainspotting Psychotherapy to align and re-set the nervous  system. All of the work we do together is at your own pace and unique to you.

What are your qualifications?

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing in New York and Florida. I graduated from Adelphi University in NY and have been practicing for 18+ years.

Much of my experience was gained in community mental health clinics working with adults, children, and families with an array of mental health challenges. I also managed programs for emotionally challenged children in the probation system and their families. I was a member of a large private practice group for many years.

I like to be well versed in many psychological modalities:

CBT, BRAINSPOTTING, SOMATIC THERAPY, PSYCHODYNAMIC, EGO PSYCHOLOGY, INTERNAL FAMILY SYSTEMS, ATTACHMENT THERAPY, ACCEPTANCE AND COMMITTMENT THERAPY, POSITIVE PSYCHOLOGY, STRENGTHS WORK, RELAXATION THERAPY

I am a certified anxiety, trauma and mindfulness specialist.

Despite all of my education, this is what you need to know:

I am here for YOU. I will listen and remember what you tell me. I will be prompt and on time and will show you the ultimate respect. I will always treat you with the most effective evidence based practices.

Many of my clients feel huge sigh of relief in our work! They feel heard, validated, and supported because I am a dedicated person deeply invested in your growth and transformation.

I look forward to meeting you.

Why Brainspotting?

Brainspotting is a phenomenal holistic neuro psychotherapy model. It works! I love the client centered approach which allows you to really become a part of the process. Similar to EMDR, Brainspotting has less protocol, is efficient and fast and provides relief from long standing issues. I love to align clients to the Brainspotting process and see the release of toxic experiences and reduction of anxiety. Brainspotting is very flexible and can be used for trauma, anxiety, grief, monetary financial issues and to expand abilities in business, sports and the arts. What are the benefits of working with you?

You will appreciate my comprehensive approach. I consider many factors that impact your mental health, including lifestyle habits, relationships, and spiritual beliefs. I consider all that to tailor your treatment to prioritize what’s most important to you.

You’ll also start noticing better self-awareness as you gain insight into your thought, feelings, past experiences and behaviors and new ways to manage them.

Your coping skills will greatly improve so that you can navigate life’s stressors more smoothly.

Overall, you will feel more resilient with a different outlook on your life. This will tremendously change the quality of your relationships (with yourself and others) and your sense of meaning and purpose in life!

INVESTMENT

THERE IS NO BETTER TIME TO INVEST IN YOURSELF THAN NOW!

Make no doubt about it, therapy with me is an investment in you. The benefits and value you gain from therapy will not end at our last session.

YOU WILL CARRY THEM WITH YOU FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE

All the goals you set and change you wanted accomplished.

I know you are dedicated to transforming your life because you are here and willing to invest in yourself!

I am considered an “out-of-network” provider and do not directly accept insurance. But did you know that some insurances will reimburse you up to 80% for my fees?

For various reasons I do not participate, such as protecting your privacy and confidentiality, not having to give you a mental health diagnosis, maintaining freedom in scheduling and flexibility in treatment modalities that I use. Also, insurance companies can request the notes from me for your sessions and I find that invasive.

I can provide you with a “Superbill” (pre-completed forms for you to send to your insurance company) to submit for possible reimbursement. Please call your insurance company before starting services and ask them if they provide reimbursement for out-of-network online mental health services.

How do I schedule an initial consultation?

Email me at trishlevine.lcsw@gmail.com or call/text me at (516) 446-8910 to schedule your free comprehensive consultation. I offer phone and online consults. We will talk about your needs, any therapy you have had the past, the type of therapy you are looking for and I can review my approach and style.

If we both feel that we are a good fit, we can set up our first session.

Where is your office?

My practice is virtual, so we’ll be meeting online on a HIPPA safe platform. Online therapy is very safe, easy, accessible and convenient!

We can meet anywhere you want –as long as you feel safe and it’s private. I have had clients have sessions in their cars, libraries, bedrooms… even while walking outdoors.

Virtual therapy is a very freeing experience. It takes the element of anxiety away from sessions…no driving, parking, interacting with other patients for starters. And it is interactive. It allows me to screen share and display therapeutic diagrams and visual aides to give you a greater understanding of your process.

I have been working remotely for many years, especially with clients who are chronically ill or lacking transportation and unable to get to the office. It is a space I am very comfortable with as a clinician. I will make you feel safe and cared for.

My free 15 minute consultation allows you to experience teletherapy firsthand. Contact me to see how easy it is and see how devoting less than an hour a week to yourself can transform your life!

What are your hours?

Generally, I am an early riser and work Monday through Thursday. Intensives can be arranged on weekends.

Online therapy is very flexible, so please feel free to talk to me about your needs. I’ll do my best to make it work for you.

How long is a session?

The first session is 75-90 minutes so that I can get to know you. Individual sessions are 60-75 minutes. Longer sessions honor the Brainspotting process.

What is the first session like?

Our primary goal is to make sure you feel safe. I will continually check to ensure that you feel comfortable. Then, in a secure environment, we’ll explore your current experiences and get to experiences in the past that may be getting in your way. I always have a lot of questions! But, my main goal is to let you tell me what you want me to hear. I will help you to identify goals and give you some tools right away to bring relief for what you are experiencing. And we will discuss the modalities of therapy I think may help you and educate as to why they will.

How do you accept payment?
Payments can be made via credit/debit card, Zelle or a Health Savings Account (HSA).
What is your cancellation policy?

If you cannot attend your session, please let me know at least 24 hours in advance. You will be charged a full fee for late cancellations or no-shows.

You will receive reminders for your appointments via text, email, or phone.

What do I need to access the virtual sessions?

You will need a reliable Internet connection and a device such as a phone, computer, or tablet. You may prefer to wear earbuds or headphones.

You will be set up for sessions through my client portal on Simple Practice. It is confidential and HIPAA-compliant. I will walk you through the easy set up steps.

With whom do you work?

I work with adults (ages 18+)

Some issues and stages I work with:

Young Adults: I work clients though transition to adulthood, breaking away from families and developing their own values, navigating their first real jobs, lack of motivation, self confidence, gender identity and how to have lasting relationships. The stage of life between 18-31 years of age holds the most changes you will see in your lifetime.

Mid ages: The challenges of a family, a home, financial planning, marriage/relationship issues, parenting, daily stress, bad experiences from the past that come up, how to maintain autonomy for oneself.

Seniors: I help navigate accepting aging, illness and loss, menopause, life regrets, accepting our changing bodies and deciding what retirement looks like and its pitfalls.

Are you LGBTQIA friendly?
Of course! My pronouns are she/her. I have the utmost respect for yours, so please let me know your preference. I have vast experience in this area and look forward to working with you.
Is my story silly compared to what you hear from others?

Absolutely not… no comparisons here. Your story is unique and very important to me and I will treat it with the utmost respect.

I am a good listener and have been told by my clients that I remember everything.

We will think out of the box and come up with solutions for your issues.

Can my pet join our sessions?

I would love that! Having your furry friend next to you can immediately reduce stress and anxiety, improve your mood and help you feel a general sense of calm and stability.

You should see how many pets naturally show up for sessions weekly!
